OK, I’ve ordered three differnt varieties of the heriloom cotton seeds:

Mississippi Brown Cotton
Erlene’s Green Cotton
Red Foliated White Cotton

Looking forward to some beautiful cotton to display in my home.

Thank you so much for the suggestions!! We just might have found our seed source… We are familiar with Seed Savers and Sally’s work, and will look into those more along our journey.

The cotton stencil is s GREAT idea. I’ll add that to our list of projects to come! We really appreciate the care and passion from everyone.

Have you tried Sally Fox in Capay Valley, California, who grows organic cotton with the color grown-in? She has beautiful organic cotton that grows naturally in shades of brown, green, red, etc. http://foxfibre.com/ Also, consider contacting one of the best heirloom seed companies in American, Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. Although they specialize in food and flowers, they may know a source for organic cotton. They have growers all over the country who source heirloom varieties for them. http://rareseeds.com/

You can at least try several varieties and see which work for you on a small starting basis.

Beki is right contact Seed Savers, they are great. That vintage cotton picture of the plant would make a beautiful stencil,maybe proceeds could go to a saving cotton fund. Great post!
