REVERSE APPLIQUE RUNNER SUPPLY LIST

From the Creativebug Website:

“Reverse applique is the signature look of Natalie’s designs at Alabama Chanin. Natalie demystifies the process in this workshop, showing you how to add depth and texture to a cotton table runner. The technique is worked on two layers of fabric, with the top layer stenciled and then stitched to the backing layer. Once stitched in place, parts of the top layer are cut away to expose the color below for a satisfying final reveal.”

Our 20” x 60” inch table runner features the Paisley stencil on our natural medium weight fabric, stenciled in metal fabric paint using reverse appliqué technique with Slate thread.

Below are our design choices:

Fabric weight – Medium
Top layer – Natural
Backing – Blue Slate
Stencil – Paisley
Textile paint – Metal
Thread – Slate
Appliqué Stitch – Straight
Knots – Inside

absolutely splendid workshops! i am now officially unafraid to stencil. a big thank you to Natalie, the Alabama Chanin crew, and creativebug. and, at the risk of being rude and pushy, i ask for more workshops, please!
