As 2013 was a great year for Alabama Chanin—one full of new projects, studio expansions, awards, good times with friends, travel, workshops, and bringing ideas and visions to full fruition—we are equally excited about the upcoming events for 2014 (stay up-to-date by subscribing to our mailing list).
Our newest Collection will launch online at the end of this month, along with our line of machine-sewn garments under the label A. Chanin.
In early spring, we will begin hosting an array of events at the new space at The Factory, including a new visiting chef series, dinners, high tea, musicians, and of course, workshops.
Last November, we launched Studio Week Workshops at our newly expanded studio and continue with workshops in May and September of 2014. This experience is a total immersion into our philosophies, process, materials, and products. Participants learn a range of techniques in design basics, hand sewing, stencil design and creation, airbrush and garment stenciling, fit and pattern alterations, plus discussion and critique with the Alabama Chanin team.
For more information and to sign up, visit our Workshops page or email workshops [at] alabamachanin.com.
Be on the lookout for us in your city in 2014 with an array of trunk shows, retreats, workshops, and more. We will travel to Berkeley, California to lead another one-day retreat at The Edible Schoolyard. And this summer, join us at beautiful Blackberry Farm in Tennessee for a Weekend Away Workshop full of learning, fellowship, mountain air, and delicious food.
I am also keeping busy this year with the upcoming release of two new books (yes, two!). As I’ve mentioned before, a lot of work goes into the process writing a book and this time is no different. Stay tuned for more information on these two projects in the coming months.
Personally, my goal is healthier living (which means embarking on the Clean diet again), more family life (spending time with Maggie riding horses), and enjoying more time for me—which means more frequent walks, a more consequent yoga practice, and a little more time away from work.
Finally, I am honored to announce that Alabama Chanin is one of the Eileen Fisher 2014 Business Grant for Women Entrepreneurs recipients. I’m looking forward to meeting the Eileen Fisher team in New York in the springtime and to continue striving towards excellence and stewardship in our business practices.
Thank you again (and again) to ALL of YOU for being an integral part of the Alabama Chanin story.
