Points of Departure
Phillip March Jones' collection of roadside memorial polaroids is a stark visual demand that we stop and see. These images capture the markers left for loved ones lost, which most of us drive past in our hurried lives, never seeing or thinking twice about the departed they commemorate. Polaroid film, a natural choice for Jones, lends an ethereal, dated, yet momentary feel to the work. Read our interview with Jones on our Journal here.

Sass Brown’s ReFashioned: Cutting Edge Clothing From Upcycled Materials, is the second in a series focusing on the eco-fashion movement. Previously, in Eco Fashion, she examined designers and labels (including Alabama Chanin) practicing sustainability in the fashion industry. In ReFashioned, she features 46 international designers who create using recycled and upcycled textiles. The result is a stunning volume of forward-thinking design that also opens a discussion on the current state of fashion and its many wasteful practices. Includes a foreword by Natalie Chanin.
